RYAN THOMAS
FOR
LYNCHBURG
No drama. Just good policy.
Ryan Thomas is a Lynchburg resident, husband, father, small business owner, and real estate investor focused on restoring function to City Council through principled conservative leadership and practical solutions. He has called Lynchburg home since 2004 and, after years of traveling for work, chose to put down roots here with his wife, Corey, and their three children.
Ryan’s background spans higher education, security, grassroots political organizing, and the music industry, while his work in real estate has given him firsthand experience with housing affordability, local regulations, and the challenges facing working families and small businesses.
He is running for City Council to bring disciplined, solutions-focused leadership grounded in accountability, affordability, and core conservative principles.
KEY POLICY POSITIONS
Saying "No" to Richmond
Education Reform
Affordable Housing
Ryan will worktirelessly to protect the rights--and the bank accounts--of Lynchburg residents from Richmond overreach. Whether it be 2nd Amendment protections or counter-acting burdensome taxes and regulations, Ryan will be proactive about curbing the worst excesses of the new state government.
Ryan will explore innovative solutions to cut unnecessary overhead and re-allocate funds where they truly belong--in the classroom. We don’t need more spending; we need smarter spending.
Housing costs are out of control. Ryan will champion creative zoning solutions, aggressive de-regulation, and radically lower real estate taxes to lower rent and place homeownership within reach for Lynchburg citizens and families.
no car tax
PUBLIC SAFETY
pro-business
This is one of the most unpopular and regressive taxes in Virginia. Families pay hundreds or even thousands each year just to own a vehicle they already purchased. Eliminating it won’t happen overnight—we need to get spending under control first—but it remains a clear policy priority.
Public safety is fundamental to maintaining a free, high-trust society. Communities suffer when career criminals are allowed to victimize without consequence. Ryan will prioritize safe neighborhoods while never allowing the pursuit of safety to come at the expense of our Constitutionally guaranteed liberties.
Cut unnecessary regulatory barriers that raise costs for small businesses and entrepreneurs, while reviewing outdated rules that no longer improve safety or outcomes. Streamline licensing, permitting, and inspections so businesses can open faster and with fewer costly delays.
